Why Consignment?
Textile Waste
According to the EPA, 5.9 million kilograms (13.1 million pounds) of textile waste was generated in 2010. Consignment stores helped to recycle 14% of clothes. Without consignment stores, the 1.8 million metric tons (2 million tons) of recycled textiles per year might be reduced to nothing.
Recycling Benefits
By recycling textile goods at consignment stores, you reduce the water pollution from crops as well as the emissions from factories.
Community Benefits
Recycling your used goods benefits your community as well as the environment. The transportation costs associated with retail goods are reduced or eliminated. and consignment stores sell recycled items at lower costs than other stores because they are used. This allows community members to buy things they might not be able to afford/ might not be willing to spend at retail value.
Consignment Stores
Consignment stores allow you to make money by recycling!
About the Owner
Kara resides with her husband and dog in Qualicum Beach. Working as a director in the ocean conservation sector combined with her desire to make the world a better place Kara saw an opportunity to put her heart and her dream into one little shop, on the corner, in Parksville BC.
“I believe that every person, every single one, deserves to see the beauty that is within and how that can be reflected on the outside. I have always been curvy and I have been the woman standing at the one single back rack and it feels lonely there. I hope that I have created a space where women can come to have a little fun, great conversation and to walk out feeling better than they walked in. Buying secondhand is better for the environment, your wallet and let’s you stand out as an individual so you aren’t buying this seasons mass produced look. we support every woman of every size and I hope to give the community and island additional ranges of sizes and selections to choose from.
Parksville wasn’t a random choice to set up shop, after spending time in the community over the summer Kara saw a community of diversity, a culture of camaraderie and a quaintness that only a small town can supply.
“I’m here to support every woman at every part of her self-journey. In turn I hope you support me. I can’t wait to meet you!“
